Countertop installation checklist

Installed pieces should match approved selections, template, seam plan, edge profile, pattern direction, and documented natural-material expectations.

Compare the installed surface with samples, slab photos, shop drawings, and seam approvals. Review color, veining, edge profile, overhangs, waterfall panels, and backsplash pieces.

- Wrong material or finish

- Unexpected seam in focal area

- Pattern direction inconsistent

- Unapproved filler strip or layout change

Substrate, cabinet plane, brackets, corbels, build-up, adhesives, seams, and overhang support should follow the countertop system and approved design.

Inspect underside support where accessible, check contact at cabinet tops, gently test overhang stability, and examine seams for movement, lippage, open edges, or unsupported areas.

- Long overhang lacks specified support

- Counter rocks on cabinet run

- Seam has height difference or movement

- Support conflicts with seating or appliance access

Cutouts, clearances, reinforcement, clips, sealants, and appliance interfaces should match approved templates and product instructions without creating cracks or unsafe heat exposure.

Inspect every cutout and corner, sink clips, faucet holes, cooktop clearance, outlet fit, wall gaps, backsplash transition, and access for service connections.

- Cooktop binds in opening

- Oversized wall gap hidden with excessive sealant

The completed countertop should be clean and free from unresolved scratches, chips, stains, adhesive residue, poorly tooled sealant, or missing maintenance information.

Inspect under normal and side lighting. Review seam color, edge polish, caulk lines, protective treatment where applicable, cleaning restrictions, warranty, and leftover repair information.
