A framing-stage new-home checklist for approved structural layout, floor and roof systems, bearing, connectors, braced walls, openings, stairs, fireblocking, moisture condition, dimensional coordination, window and door openings, trade pathways, corrections, and records before plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work modifies the framing.

Walls, floors, roofs, openings, stairs, and elevations match approved structural and architectural plans

Critical item

The frame should reflect approved geometry, load paths, room dimensions, openings, and site-specific options.

Structural members, bearing, splices, hangers, connectors, and fastening are complete

Rough-ins should begin after structural corrections and required approvals are documented.

Use after the primary structural frame and sheathing are erected but before extensive plumbing, electrical, gas, or HVAC drilling, notching, cutting, and concealment. Do not climb incomplete framing; use safe floor-level observation, contractor photographs, and qualified structural inspection. Do not enter unsupported excavations, walk incomplete framing or roofs, open energized equipment, operate pressurized systems without authorization, or interfere with required inspections. Use qualified inspectors and licensed trades for inaccessible, structural, electrical, gas, mechanical, environmental, or life-safety conditions.
