Every active breaker has a specific, durable, and understandable circuit description

Critical item

Labels should identify the actual area or equipment rather than vague terms.

Circuit descriptions are verified against outlets, lights, appliances, and fixed equipment

The directory should reflect real operation after rewiring or panel replacement.

Shared neutrals, multiwire circuits, tied breakers, common disconnects, and subpanels are identified

Circuits that must be disconnected together should be clearly documented and use required common trip or handle relationships.

Spare, unused, abandoned, future, and load-managed circuits are distinguished

A breaker position should not be called spare if connected, and abandoned conductors should be safely terminated.

Use after safe energization and before project closeout. Testing must be led by a qualified electrician or performed only with owner-safe methods that do not expose live parts. Do not remove electrical covers, operate unapproved equipment, test energized conductors, backfeed circuits, or bypass interlocks. Service, panel, EV, generator, solar, and battery work must be performed and inspected by qualified persons where required.
