4 items to check

0%

Lock, door preparation, handing, fire or egress function, and hardware are compatible

Critical item

The smart lock should fit the door and existing preparation without defeating required egress, fire-door, accessibility, rental, or approved security functions.

Latch, bolt, strike, fasteners, alignment, and manual operation are reliable

Critical item

The lock should operate freely without forcing the motor, lifting or pushing the door, loose trim, weak attachment, or misaligned strike.

Batteries, codes, users, connectivity, alerts, and emergency access work

Critical item

Primary and backup entry methods should function, batteries and low-power alerts should be configured, and user codes and remote access should follow owner-approved security settings.

Account ownership, permissions, privacy, keys, reset, and warranty are handed over

The owner should control administrator access and understand users, logs, cloud features, integrations, reset, physical keys, emergency procedures, and warranty support.

Use this checklist after a smart lock installation. Door egress, fire rating, rental, shared-entry, accessibility, security, and emergency-access requirements vary by location and occupancy.
