Structural shell
Critical itemPer EN 16582-1 (domestic pools) and EN 15288-1 (public pools), the pool shell must be designed and constructed to withstand hydrostatic pressure from the water, earth pressure from the surrounding ground, and any surcharge loads. Reinforced concrete shells must comply with EN 1992-1-1 (Eurocode 2) for structural design and EN 206 for concrete specification, with particular attention to water-tightness class per EN 1992-3. Steel reinforcement cover must be sufficient to resist chloride-induced corrosion in the wet environment. The shell must accommodate thermal movement without cracking.
